I am having an affair...

February 8, 2011

Have you ever met someone, and from the first glance you just knew that you both would be together forever? A couple of weeks ago I found that connection, and these last two weeks have been nothing but pure enjoyment.  Yes, I know I am married, and my husband is really ok with this new relationship.  I will admit he was a little concerned in the beginning...but soon after I introduced them to each other, he understood the desire I feel and has even joined in on our wonderful moments together.  I am lucky to have such a non-judgemental husband.

At times our relationship has been a combination of love and hate.  I love being together, but then I have such guilt and shame afterwards.

I would like to show you my newest partner, but I never seem to remember to take a photo when we are together.

I am having an affair with Cavity Maker Chocolate Cake.  We met on The Menu Mama, and we have been together twice in two weeks.  I have already planned our third meet-up, and I am so excited!

I first baked this AMAZING chocolate cake when I was following along with the weekly dinner menu provided by The Menu Mama!  (I posted about the great chicken fingers I made here).  I knew this chocolate cake was a recipe I would never want to lose.  I immediately wrote it down on a recipe card and placed it in my recipe binder!

I ate so much of this cake, I even tried to break up with it here.  But I caved in and went back...I baked another one yesterday for Superbowl Sunday.  I have to admit, this one turned out even more moist than the first!  (Could that even be possible?)  I told myself to take a picture when it first came out of the oven.  Then I reminded myself, right before we cut into it, to snap a charming keepsake.  I finally forced myself to photograph the final piece of cake sitting in the recycled margarine container (I do try to be eco-friendly where I can) but when I originally posted it, I got comments that it didn't quite look like cake (read comments below)!  Since this cake is the most wonderful thing in the world, I couldn't let a bad picture take away from it's glory! (Almost like when a horrible picture of you gets tagged on facebook for all to see)...but I digress!

inhaled ate the cake in about 6 bites.  It had been placed in the refrigerator last night, as my husband thought it was just the butter container (SMART MOVE on my behalf, make note!).  I have to tell you, between the moist chocolate and the slight chill...I am on a euphoric chocolate high right now!
Are you drooling yet?  Do you want to know the recipe?  I promise you...this is the end-all, best chocolate cake you will ever bake.
click on the cake to get the recipe!
If you ever need a weekly meal plan, or even just a quick meal idea...I strongly urge you to stop by The Menu Mama!

**UPDATE....Holy chocolate-lover's dream!!  The Menu Mama has a HOT FUDGE SAUCE recipe today!  Can you imagine chocolate cake and hot fudge for your sweetheart on Valentine's Day next week?  Who is to say the hot fudge has to be for the cake either!!

Haha, I love the picture that says "Because Chocolate Can't Get you Pregnant" Too funny! I really might have to try this one out soon. We don't have boxed cake mixes (which I admit going to more than I should). If it is half as good as you say it is, then yum-ee!
